Encrucijada Review (Translated)                    Reviewed by Pablo Boschiazzo 16/5/2006

Killer Sixgun is the personal project of the Greek guitarist Laki Ragazas, who has created an almost entirely instrumental work, since there are only two songs that include vocals, with a singer called John Jeff Touch, who has done a very decent, dignified and professional work. These songs are "Highway Of Love", the best version of the 80's Hard Rock style, and "Reach Out", Hard orientated with blues elements and with a riff by Laki simply brilliant. The rest of them are a combination of instrumental themes which begin with "Run (If You Can)", with very fast and precise solos, always 80's Hard Rock orientated. After "Highway Of Love" comes "Day One", a beautiful instrumental piece with emotional elements that can move the listener. Next comes "Reach Out", which gives a free path for Laki's guitar and "Stay With Me", which reminds a lot of Gary Moore. Thus, Laki Ragazas maintains those 80's Moore influences with a touch of Jimi Hendrix and Michael Schenker, instead of being one of the many guitarists trying to copy the Malmsteen style. This definitely gives credit to the Greek guitarist, and if you have noticed "C Storm", in which Laki's influences mix with a bit of Jazz and Funk you will see this is the most attractive piece of the CD. This last mixture is also shown in "The Jeckyl & Hyde Jam", with 100% bluesy riffs. The CD closes with the magnificent "Stormcoming", with a lot of Steve Vai reference but always maintaining the blues element that characterises Ragazas.                                  Killer Sixgun gives us a different touch in which we are not so used to when listening to guitar heroes around the world. I would say that this project is an alternative that will capture the guitar fans, as finnish Jartse Tuominen did a while ago. Very good work!
